For art director and graphic designer Núria Vila ( @nuriavilapunzano ), commitment to the environment is one of the fundamental pillars of her life. Also in the professional aspect of it. She believes that taking maximum care of design while taking care of the planet is possible and this is one of the maxims that she applies in her work as a designer. Did you know that approximately 70% of the environmental impact of products or graphic pieces is decided during their initial phase? Núria works to reduce this ecological footprint by applying environmental criteria to design in a more sustainable and conscious way.
Some teachings that she also practices as a family to achieve a more ecofriendly life. In this Domestika Newspapers, we follow Núria Vila's routine and her creative process committed to the environment. You can watch the video below: Like so Banner Design many other people, the pandemic has also made Núria Vila completely rethink her routine. "Now I feel like a nomadic designer," she says. This nomadism makes her work in her bright living room surrounded by plants as soon as in the smallest room of the house, or with her children while they play around her. Although, without a doubt, her favorite moment is when she goes out to the terrace with her laptop and can work in the sun.
At other times he also goes to his studio, where his multiple projects are conceived: art direction, poster, editorial, catalogues, signage, web and experimentation. Another key point of his routine consists of daily meditation and walks in the forest, which help him find balance and connect with nature. The designer also takes advantage of family time to experiment with different materials and leftovers. A toy box can become a dragon with just a little creativity, scissors and acrylic paints, and an egg cup can also be an open door to new creative worlds. All these strategies and experiments with the family are then used to apply them professionally in her work as a graphic designer.
